Miami Dade Regional Update
& 63rd Street Hot Spot Study, Florida

Shoreline and volumetric changes along the Dade County shoreline performed for a previous Coastal Systems International, Inc. study were updated to include the Miami Dade Regional Sedimentperiod between 1996 and 2000. From this update, changes extending from Golden Beach to Government Cut over a 20 year period were analyzed in order to update a comprehensive sediment budget of the entire region. In addition, detailed sediment transport estimates in the vicinity of 63rd Street Hot Spot were determined based upon the calculated volumetric changes within the problem area. Cross-shore transport rates were also quantified. The sediment transport investigations resulted in the development of basic design parameters for shore protection measures at the 63rd St. Hot Spot.
