Grove Harbour, Florida

Coastal Systems assisted the City of Miami in developing a new marina on the Coconut Grove waterfront that would accommodate potential upland uses. The 110 slip conceptual design for the Dinner Key Boatyard Marina provided for transient vessels and long-term docking, as well as the relocation of the travel lifts for the planned upland dry stack facility. The design also anticipated future development by accommodating an additional 28 slips. A wave baffling system, which minimized wave energy transmission into the facility, was planned. The scope of work for this project included current measurements and water circulation studies, water quality analysis, model testing of wave transmission into the facility, environmental permitting, and the design of a 600-foot bulkhead to replace and stabilize the existing shoreline.

Coastal Systems completed the engineering design of the 90- slip wet slip marina consisting of fixed concrete docks. The City of Miami completed the design of the marina utilities, and the structural components of the docks were coordinated with the utilities based on the shore power, domestic, fire, sewage pump-out, and communication lines. Construction documents were prepared that also included the sheet pile bulkhead and the upland water and sanitary sewer service to the marina. The marina can accommodate vessels up to 110-feet in length. The marina opened in 2004 as Grove Harbour Marina with an additional 260 dry slips.
