Marinas

Marinas create energy on the waterfront, and Coastal Systems specializes in designing the marina experience. The combined expertise of the firm to provide the full range of environmental, coastal, marina planning, marine structures and utility consulting services provides a cost-effective approach to marina projects. Coastal Systems has a proven track record with large and small marina and docking facility projects throughout the U.S., Caribbean and Central America.

The initial focus of a marina project is to assess the market conditions and to develop a slip mix and waterfront development program that meets the project vision and objectives. This process will include the evaluation of site conditions including coastal processes, such as winds and waves along with wave attenuation and storm protection. Once the marina program is established, the team at Coastal Systems can complete the shoreline stabilization, dredging, and coastal works design. These project approaches comply with the domestic and international regulatory requirements, and Coastal Systems has demonstrated project experience with Engineered Waterfront Environments.

Coastal Systems has designed fixed and floating dock systems for a variety of domestic and international projects. These marinas have included megayacht facilities to moor vessels ranging from 200 feet up to 465 feet long. Marina utilities are designed by Coastal Systems based on the marina program including shore power, sewage pump-out, potable water, communications, fuel and fire protection. Also, Coastal Systems has planned and designed many dry stack marina projects, including one of the largest dry stack marinas in Florida with 580 racks. The marina team has experience with conventional marine forklifts and the required operational criteria as well as automated crane systems.
