Coastal Systems International, Inc. provided coastal engineering services to Princess Cruises for the development of their private island destination at Princess Cays. The project involved the restoration and expansion of the existing beaches and marina. The designs included the installation of six breakwater/groin structures and the placement of 24,000 cubic yards of sandfill to achieve a three-acre increase of the recreational beach area. Marina expansion designs were produced to accommodate Princess Cruises' larger 2,500 passenger ships and larger 200 passenger tenders.
Coastal Systems provided additional design services for the further expansion of the marina to accommodate the Grand Princess, which set sail in 1998. Designs also contained new dining facilities and recreational areas including a driving range and additional water sports activities. Coastal Systems provided a full range of construction management services including on-site supervision, project accounting and logistics.
