Senior Coastal Engineer – Miami or Palm Beach County, Florida
Coastal Systems is seeking a Senior Coastal Engineer with 8-10 years of experience in coastal engineering. The engineer will work on domestic and international coastal/waterfront projects. Coastal processes will be evaluated including wind, waves, water levels (storm surge), currents and sediment transport. The engineer will utilize advanced numerical models such as the DHI MIKE-21 system to simulate coastal processes for the preparation of technical reports and to support the planning, design, and the preparation of construction documents. Projects will include beach nourishment, coastal storm impact analyses, coastal structures (breakwaters, jetties, etc.), and marinas/harbors.
Required Skills:
The candidate should have strong coastal engineering technical skills in coastal and hydraulic processes and the application of advanced numerical models to simulate coastal processes. The analysis and modeling technical reports will be utilized by the candidate to perform the engineering design of shore protection improvements such as beach nourishment, breakwaters, seawalls, jetties and “living” shorelines. Candidate should be knowledgeable with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer’s Coastal Engineering Manual and other industry standards. Candidate must have strong writing and communication skills and the ability to lead multi-disciplined teams.
Required Experience:
- MS degree (with an emphasis in coastal or ocean engineering or science)
- Coastal/waterfront engineering
- Numerical modeling - Coastal engineering or science technologies, analyses, models.
- Public and private client management
- Project management
- Technical writing
- Professional engineer license is preferred
Site Construction Inspector – Palm Beach County, Florida
Position immediately available for a Site Construction Inspector to work out of our West Palm Beach Regional Office. Position is on a contract basis, 3 days per week (24 hours per week), for the duration of the construction project located in North Palm Beach County. Construction Project Duration is estimated at 6 months.
Duties will include the following:
- Conduct marine construction site observations for heavy marine construction project 3 days per week to confirm work is proceeding in accordance with the plans and specifications.
- Prepare Daily Site Reports for project documentation that will record Contractor’s hours on the site, equipment on site, estimated work production, data relative to work change directives, changed conditions, site visitors, daily activities, decisions, and general observations as well as any test/inspection results while on site.
- Attend Progress Meetings and prepare meeting minutes for distribution.
- Track construction schedule and milestones.
- Coordinate between client and contractor.
- Coordinate with environmental agency (i.e. Florida DEP) site inspections.
- Assist Engineer in review of Payment Applications.
Requirements:
- Associates (2-year) Degree in construction management, engineering or similar degree.
- 5+ years of construction inspection or management experience.
- Marine construction experience a plus.
- Valid Driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Must be able to interpret of multi-disciplined construction plans and specifications.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Provide own transportation; project-related mileage will be reimbursed.
- Computer proficiency with software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Junior
Waterfront Structural Engineer
Position available for a junior waterfront structural engineer. The ideal candidate
must have accredited B.S. degree in civil engineering. Qualified individuals
must
have 0 – 2 years experience in structural analysis/design & structural
analysis software such as STAAD. Experience with surveying, seawalls, bulkheads,
piers, marinas, and ports is a plus.
Project
Site Engineer
Coastal Systems Development is a design-build company
specializing in waterfront development projects throughout
the Caribbean. Coastal Systems Development is offering
employment opportunities to individuals seeking exciting
marine construction experience in unique locations.
Position is immediately available for a Project Site
Engineer involving overall support for a construction
site in the Bahamas. You will be required to live in
the Bahamas to support the ongoing construction projects.
Duties include interpreting multi-disciplined construction
plans, quantity take-offs, surveying, coordination with
architects, engineers and the construction support team
in Miami, construction project documentation, quality
control, general project administration, tracking budgets
and schedules, coordination of all project related costs,
logistics and safety. Candidate will be required to
be the liaison between the construction team and the
design team while reporting to the site manager.
Bachelors Degree in Engineering Required, EIT or PE
a plus. Other requirements include proficiency in computer
software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project and
AutoCAD.
