CocoCay,
Bahamas
Coastal Systems International, Inc. provided engineering
design, project management and construction administration
for the infrastructure of CocoCay cruise destination.
Specifically the $1.1 million project included civil
works, sewage treatment plant, reverse osmosis plant,
electrical power generation, incineration and fuel handling.
A distribution system for the above system including
all underground
utilities and service connection was also part of the
scope of design services.
Lastly, Coastal Systems developed the new infrastructure
in accordance with the client's master plan by assembling
and directing an international team of subconsultants.
The design process was sensitive to the uniquely vast
island environment and emphasized responsible management
of the environment. This project will reclaim water
from sewage treatment processes for reuse. All fuel
handling for the project was specified as double wall
containment including flexible underground piping.
Throughout the design process the use of local methods
of construction and building materials was desired to
facilitate construction of the project.
During construction Coastal Systems was under contract
to provide construction administration support.
